When power plants burn trees, it’s even dirtier than burning coal.
Burning trees for fuel contributes heavily to climate change, and it also destroys one of our best tools to fight it: our forests.
Europe has led the way, importing wood pellets from our Southern forests to burn for electricity, and now the US is considering following suit in this destructive practice.
The EPA promised it would analyze and create rules for utilities that burn trees and other biomass. But we’re still waiting, and now we need the EPA to finish the job to protect our forests and climate.
